When the question word どんな is used with the nouns whose meaning is abstract or general(e.g., ところ[place], もの[tangible thing], こと [intangible thing]), there are two ways to answer the question:
①Use adjectives.
②Use specific nouns, often in the "N1や N2(など)" phrase, which is an inexhaustive listing of nouns.
A: なつやすみに どんな ところへ いきますか。
Where [what kind of place] are you going during summer vacation?
B: ①すずしい ところへ いきます。
I'm going to a cool place.
B: ②うみや 山へ いきます。
I'm going to the beach, mountains, places like that.
