よう is used to specify something by giving an example. N1 (a specific noun) is referred to as an example of N2.
よう takes な when it precedes a noun: ~ような N. When よう is used with verbs, i-adjectives, and na-adjectives, it takes に: ~ように V/Aい/Aな.
京都のような町に住んでみたいです。
I want to live in a city like Kyoto.
わたしは、マナさんのようにがんばります。
I'll try hard like Mana does.
この町は、しんじゅくのように車が多いです。
We see a lot of cars in this town, just like in Shinjuku.
